Mechanical Equipment Seismic Restraint

Seismic restraint for plant-room mechanical equipment — pumps, chillers, tanks, AHUs and pressure vessels. Anchor bolts tie equipment to the structural slab; vibration isolators with seismic snubbers handle dynamic and seismic loads together.

Plant-room mechanical equipment with seismic restraint and anchor bolts
Overview

Anchorage for Critical Equipment

Mechanical equipment seismic restraint stops pumps, chillers, tanks and AHUs from sliding, overturning or rupturing during an earthquake. The load path runs through anchor bolts (or post-installed concrete anchors) into the structural slab.

For vibration-sensitive equipment, isolators are combined with seismic snubbers so the equipment continues to be isolated under normal operation but is restrained under seismic loading. We supply matched anchors, brackets, frames and snubbers per project BOM.

  • Pumps, chillers, tanks & AHUs.
  • Anchor bolts — undercut, wedge, expansion.
  • Beam clamps 1–10 t — no welding, no drilling.
  • Vibration isolators with seismic snubbers.
  • GB 50981 / IBC compliant.

The Equipment Anchorage Kit

Equipment restraint combines anchor bolts, beam clamps, fasteners and vibration isolators into one anchorage system.

FAQ

Common Questions

What equipment needs seismic restraint?
Pumps, chillers, tanks, AHUs, transformers, pressure vessels and any plant-room equipment that could slide, overturn or rupture during an earthquake. GB 50981 and IBC list specific weight and importance thresholds.
Anchor bolts vs welded restraint?
Anchor bolts (undercut or wedge) provide a reliable, calculable restraint into concrete without welding — and can be inspected and re-tightened. Welded restraint changes the equipment's structural detail and is rarely preferred.
Can you combine vibration isolation with seismic restraint?
Yes — spring or rubber isolators with integrated seismic snubbers (or external snubber housings) let equipment float for normal vibration but are restrained under seismic loading.
Do you provide load calculations?
Yes — anchor load calculations per equipment weight, centre of gravity and seismic design parameters, plus the matched anchor and snubber BOM.
